We picked Ryan up from boot camp the week before Christmas, and he had to leave by the 23rd in order to be able to drive to his base in Colorado by the required date. He opened up a few presents the night before he left.
Perhaps the most memorable presents were the puzzles that our resident artist made for him. Nate spent an afternoon gluing and cutting and wrapping. And Ryan, being a good sport, put his two together immediately--much to the delight of all.
They were much harder than they looked, so Kenzie pitched in to help.
Eventually, he was left to himself.
Everyone else decided that they wanted to have some fun as well, so they went to work on the more *traditional* puzzles. Each year, my older two children, Kelly and Michael, sit together and put a puzzle from their younger days together. Ryan has one as well, but he's not as dedicated to the tradition. *smile* This may be one of my favorite photos from this year. I absolutely must order puzzles from photos of the other children for next year.
